Navigating an Online Networking Event

Here are five tips to make the most of your networking experience:

  1. Do your research!

Login before the event to learn more about the networking opportunities available and prepare a quick introduction. Although online networking events are more relaxed than in-person fairs, you still want to make a great first impression so that you can build your network.

  1. Prepare for the fair

This is a great opportunity to network with alumni in your industry of interest. Do some research to find questions to ask that will allow you to the most out of each conversation.

  1. Arrive with a positive attitude!
  1. Maximize, Maximize, Maximize!

Don't forget these are timed conversations! In order to utilize your time allocated with each alumnae, be prepared to answer questions about your background and why you are interested in their industry.

  1. Follow-Up

Following the live event, keep the conversation going. If you exchanged details, make sure to send follow-up and thank you emails or connect on LinkedIn after the networking event to make a lasting impression!
